Biographical Information[edit]

Harvin Talavera has pitched for the Nicaraguan national team.

He was 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA for his hometown Jinotega team in 2019, then 2-2, 3.73 in 2020. [1] He made Nicaragua's squad for the 2020 Americas Olympic Qualifier (held in 2021 due to delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic). In his debut, he relieved Jorge Bucardo in the 6th with a 4-1 deficit against Team USA, men on the corners and two out. He retired former major leaguer Eddy Alvarez to end the inning. In the 7th, Triston Casas singled but Mark Kolozsvary and Nick Allen flew out. Talavera walked Luke Williams but got Jarren Duran on a fly. Osman Gutiérrez succeeded him. His other outing, he faced another team that would win a medal in Tokyo, the Dominican national team. He replaced Junior Téllez in the 6th with a 9-2 deficit. He struck out Juan Francisco, hit Diego Goris then retired Luis Liberato and Charlie Valerio. In the 7th, he got Jeison Guzmán swinging and Gustavo Núñez on a fly but then served up back-to-back dingers to Yefri Pérez and Julio Rodríguez before giving way to Gutiérrez. [2]

In the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-1 with a 11.67 ERA, losing to Colombia. [3]
