Biographical Information[edit]
Luke Williams was the hero in just his second major league game for the Philadelphia Phillies on June 9, 2021, after having made his debut the previous day as a pinch-hitter. This time, he homered off Will Smith of the Atlanta Braves with a man on and the Phillies trailing 1-0 with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to give his team an unlikely 2-1, walk-off win. He had collected his first career hit, a double, earlier in the game in the 4th inning. This came only days after he helped Team USA qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by winning the 2020 Americas Olympic Qualifier (both of which took place a year later than their title dates).
