Biographical Information[edit]
Harley Boss was the regular first baseman for the 1933 Cleveland Indians, between the time when Ed Morgan was the first baseman (1930-1932) and the time when Hal Trosky was the first baseman (1934-1941). In 112 games, he batted .269 with only one home run at a position that was starting to become more and more for power hitters. It proved to be Boss' final big league action, having been a bit player for the Washington Senators from 1928 to 1930.
Boss was manager of the Clarksville Colts in the KITTY League in 1947. The team finished in 8th place with a 40-83 record. He was the coach at Vanderbilt in 1960 and 1963-1964.
