Biographical Information[edit]
Harlan Pyle pitched two games in September for the Cincinnati Reds in 1928. Both games were against the Boston Braves, who featured George Sisler and Rogers Hornsby in the heart of their lineup. While his record on his BR page credits him with 1 1/3 innings pitched and an ERA of 20.25, his correct totals from the two games, as reflected in the game log, should be 2 1/3 innings and an ERA of 11.57.
Harlan had gone 20-9 for the McCook Generals in 1928 before coming to the majors.
After his playing career ended, pitcher Harlan Pyle returned to Nebraska, where he spent time as a farmer, a grocer, and a butcher.
