Biographical Information[edit]
Hank Erickson played one season in the major leagues, with the Cincinnati Reds in 1935, as a catcher hitting .261.
Erickson had been recommended to Connie Mack of the Philadelphia Athletics in 1934 by Rip Radcliff, and Mack ended up trading Radcliff to get Erickson. However, Erickson was returned after a month to the Louisville Colonels, and later was drafted away from Louisville by the Reds, with whom he came to the majors.
Ernie Lombardi was the regular catcher for the Reds in 1935 and Gilly Campbell, who was the same age as Erickson, was the # 2 catcher.
Erickson played for Louisville from 1931 to 1934 and was later with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Waterloo Reds.
After his playing days Erickson worked as a manager in a warehouse owned by the city of Louisville.
