Biographical Information[edit]

Hal Kurtzman was a minor league infielder who went into scouting.

Kurtzman was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the 7th round of the 1968 amateur draft, one round after they picked Cecil Cooper. He hit .318/.408/.439 in 25 games for the 1969 Jamestown Falcons, fielding .980 at his main position (2B). He fell to .241/.305/.282 with 19 RBI in 96 games for the 1970 DeLand Sun Caps while fielding .963 at 2B to end his playing career.

Kurtzman was an assistant coach at University High School from 1985-1992. He later was the Arizona Diamondbacks scout for Los Angeles, signing Hector Ambriz, Trevor Bauer, Ryan Wheeler, Charles Brewer, Ryan Cook, Barry Enright and Doug Slaten.
