Biographical Information[edit]
Hal Finney is the brother of Lou Finney.
He long held the record for most at bats in a season without a hit by a non-pitcher, going 0 for 35 for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1936, but Eugenio Velez managed an 0-for-37 season in 2011 to take away that mark. That year, his OBP was .000: his 35 AB that year was for many years a record for any player with an OBP of zero, including pitchers. But in 2008, Jay Bergmann, a Washington Nationals pitcher, went 0 for 40 with an OBP of .000.
Finney's main teammates were Paul Waner, Arky Vaughan, Larry French and Pie Traynor.
