Biographical Information[edit]
Jay Bergmann was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 11th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Larry Izzo and made his pro debut that summer. Bergmann pitched six seasons with the Washington Nationals in a myriad of roles, including two seasons as a starter and one exclusively out of the bullpen. In 2008, he set an all-time record for the most at bats, 40, in a season by a player with an OBP of .000. The previous record was set by catcher Hal Finney, who went 0 for 35 for the 1936 Pittsburgh Pirates.
