Biographical Information[edit]

Gustavo Landin has played for the Ecuador national team.

After attending college in the US (hitting .253/.386/.275 as a junior and going 5 for 27 with 6 walks, a run and 3 RBI as a senior), he was with Ecuador for the 2022 South American Championship. Hitting third and catching in their opener against Argentina, he singled and doubled in his two appearances, facing Guido Monis, in a mercy rule loss; Alfonso Jalil was the only other player to get a hit for Ecuador. He had a three-hit game in their first loss to champion Brazil and in their next game against Brazil, he was the only Ecuadorian player to reach base against Marcelo Arai; with one out from a perfect game, he reached on a Pedro Okuda error. He reached base in three of four appearances in their win over Peru in the 3rd/4th place game. He finished at .438/.571/.563 with four runs and five walks in six games, fielding .955 and allowing four steals in four tries. He tied for 10th in the tourney in runs (tied Samuel Felman and Danyells García for the Ecuadorian lead), tied Felipe Burin and Lucas Nakandakare for 6th in hits (7), tied for second in doubles (two, one behind Osvaldo Carvalho), tied Agustín Tissera for second in walks (one behind Sebastián García), tied Nakandakare for 6th in average, was 4th in OBP (between Susumu Yoza and Sebastián García) ranked 8th in slugging and was 6th in OPS.
