Biographical Information[edit]

Gustavo González has pitched for the Panamanian national team. He helped them take Gold at the 2010 Central American Games. In the 2011 Baseball World Cup, he was one of their top hurlers even though several staffmates had minor league experience. He appeared in three games. In his first, he pitched the final 3 innings of a 7-3 loss to the eventual champion Dutch national team, with two walks, one strikeout and one hit (a Danny Rombley homer). He allowed two hits in a scoreless inning to end a 11-4 win over Venezuela. Against Australia, he was their top hurler in a 5-4 loss, tossing 3 shutout innings (2 H, 2 BB, 3 K). Only Yeliar Castro had a lower ERA for Panama. In the 2011 Pan American Games, he faced one batter, allowing a hit to Alexis Gómez in a 8-6 loss to the Dominican Republic. He was not the only Gustavo G. on the Panamanian staff in 2011; Gustavo Gómez was also with them.
