Five years after the Glens Falls Tigers left Glens Falls, NY after a season in which they had the best record in the Eastern League, a new team came to town. The Hamilton Redbirds briefly moved to the city as the Glens Falls Redbirds in 1993 while they waited for a stadium to be built in Sussex County, New Jersey so that they could become the New Jersey Cardinals. In their one season in Glens Falls, they led the league in attendance with 78,725 but no team from organized baseball has been placed in the town in over a decade since then.
The Redbirds went 37-40, third in the 4-team McNamara Division, but just 4 games behind the Pittsfield Mets. The manager was Steve Turco. P Alan Benes (0-4, 3.65) was ranked the 6th-best prospect in the league despite allowing 39 hits in 37 innings. Craig Grasser (2-1, 2.06) led the New York-Penn League with 19 saves and 36 appearances. One famous name on the team was Sal Bando Jr., who hit just .188/~.263/.261 as a DH/1B.
