Biographical Information[edit]

The Cincinnati Reds drafted pitcher Glen Joseph out of King High School in Tampa in the 19th round in 1998. Joseph had followed the same path as his cousins Calvin Pickering and Kelvin Pickering, going from St. Thomas to King for better baseball opportunities. Joseph pitched from 1998 through 2000 in rookie ball for the Reds. He had a live arm, but lack of control meant he got very little in-game action. He made just 19 appearances, pitching 29 1/3 innings, striking out 20 -- but walking 41. This led to his release.

Joseph got into 31 games for Cook County of the independent Frontier League in 2001. He was 3-2, 4.86 with 32 strikeouts and 36 walks in 37 innings.
