Biographical Information[edit]
Gino DiMare was a minor league outfielder and college coach.
DiMare was with Miami in the 1989 College World Series, led the team with a .353 average in 1991 and played in the 1992 College World Series. [1] In '92, he hit .311 and stole 41 bases, 9th in NCAA Division I. [2]
Undrafted, he signed with the Boston Red Sox. He hit .267/.353/.267 in 34 plate appearances for the 1992 Winter Haven Red Sox and was 1-for-7 with a walk for the GCL Red Sox. The next year, he batted .230/.330/.241 for the Fort Lauderdale Red Sox, fielding .980. He was their third-most-used outfielder.
He then was assistant coach at Westminster Christian when they were the 1996 national high school champs. [3] He was assistant coach at the University of Miami from 1997-2008 and 2011-2018. [4] He was 168-86 as head coach from 2019-2023, replacing the legendary Jim Morris and succeeded by J.D. Arteaga. [5]
