Biographical Information[edit]

Gil Martinez played in the minor leagues and the Taiwan Major League.

Martinez began his professional career with the Boston Red Sox, and he hit .278/.344/.395 for the Greensboro Hornets in 1987, with 11 outfield errors. He had a .269/.332/.311 batting line for the Winter Haven Red Sox in 1988 (cutting his errors 5 while having 16 assists), but he went 2-for-11 with the Lynchburg Red Sox. Martinez then recorded a .229/.288/.310 batting line in Lynchburg in 1989, and he left the Red Sox chain. He next appeared with the Somerset Patriots in 1999, and he played 76 games with a .308/.378/.505 batting line.

He then crushed 12 homers with a .332/.404/.492 batting line for the Aberdeen Arsenal in 2000, finishing .005 behind Atlantic League batting leader Angel Espada. He hit .294/.355/.446 with the Camden Riversharks in 2001. He also went to the Taichung Agan of Taiwan, and he recorded a .269/.360/.462 batting line in 2001 TML. Martinez had a .226/.290/.307 batting line for the Atlantic City Surf after leaving Taiwan, and he struggled with the Bridgeport Bluefish as his batting line was .170/.286/.226. He then played 11 games for the Monclova Acereros with a .220/.273/.342 batting line in 2003, and his professional career ended.
