Biographical Information[edit]
German Barranca was named the MVP of the Kansas City Royals organization in 1979. Playing with the Omaha Royals of the Triple A American Association, he batted .254/.344/.373 with a circuit record 75 stolen bases in 92 attempts. He would receive the first of four major league looks in September, splitting his big league time in Kansas City and with the Cincinnati Reds. In 1990, he played in the Senior Professional Baseball Association for the Fort Myers Sun Sox. He was batting .310 in 9 games when the league folded.
His cousin, Guillermo Barranca, pitched in the New York Yankees chain and the Mexican League 1970-1973.
