A cousin of German Barranca, Guillermo Barranca pitched four seasons in the minors. He was on the Mexican national team that won the Bronze in the 1970 Central American and Caribbean Games. He debuted with the 1970 Kinston Eagles, going 7-6 with a 2.28 ERA. Had he qualified (he was 6 innings short), he would have ranked 4th in the Carolina League in ERA.
Barranca moved to the Tampico Lightermen in 1971 and was 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in 9 games (3 starts). He had a 7-8, 3.88 record for Tampico in 1972 and 2-5, 4.70 in 1973 to end his career.
