Biographical Information[edit]

Gerardo Juárez has pitched in the minors and for the Nicaraguan national team. He is the brother of William Juárez. [1]

He was 0-1 for Chinandega in 2011, allowing 3 runs in 2 1/3 IP, then was 2-4 with a save and a 3.19 ERA in 2012. [2] He was signed by Houston Astros scout Leocadio Guevara in early 2013. [3] He split the summer between the GCL Astros (1 R in 6 1/3 IP, 8 K)( and DSL Astros (2-3, 1.86 in 13 G, 50 K:7 BB in 53 1/3 IP). He also pitched that year for Chinandega (0-2, 4 Sv, 2.30). [4] In the 2013 Bolivarian Games, he was on the Nicaraguan team that won Gold. [5]

The right-hander pitched in 2014 for the GCL Astros (Sv, 0 R in 2 1/3 IP) and Greeneville Astros (4 R in 5 2/3 IP) to end his minor league career with a career 2.13 ERA and 0.95 WHIP! He struck out five in 2 2/3 IP in the 2015 Pan American Games but allowed three runs and took a loss, to Cuba on a two-run homer by Yorbis Borroto followed by a solo shot from Adolis García. [6] He had five saves and a 6.00 ERA for Chinandega in 2015. [7] He was 0-1 with four saves and a 2.84 ERA in '17, and had a 4-1, 0.57 record with five saves for Chinandega in 2019 (24 K, 8 H in 15 2/3 IP). In 2020, he went 2-1 with eight saves and a 1.72 ERA for them. [8]
