Biographical Information[edit]

George Batten got into one major league game near the end of the 1912 season with the New York Highlanders. He played eight innings at second base. Batten was a few days short of his 21st birthday that day.

George was born in Haddonfield, NJ, outside of Philadelphia, PA.

The minor league database does not show him as playing any minor league games, but it does have an entry for a player known only as "Batten" who played some for the 1913 Montreal Royals. George was born outside of Philadelphia, and his one major league game was on a day when the Highlanders played against the Athletics in Philadelphia, so perhaps George was a top amateur player in Philadelphia who was tried for the day.
