Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Gary DiSarcina was signed by the California Angels and scout Jon Niederer as a 6th round pick in the 1988 amateur draft.

DiSarcina began his post-playing career as a broadcaster on the New England Sports Network (NESN) from 2005-2006. In November of 2006 the Boston Red Sox hired DiSarcina as a baseball operations consultant. He only stayed in this role until mid-April 2007 when the Red Sox named him manager of the Lowell Spinners of the Class A New York-Penn League. DiSarcina managed the Spinners for three seasons before taking over as the Red Sox's Minor League Infield Coordinator in 2010.

DiSarcina spent the next several years yo-yoing between the Angels and Red Sox organizations. In 2011, DiSarcina returned to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as a special assistant to the general manager, a position he held for two years. He then served as the Angels' Minor League Field Coordinator in 2012. DiSarcina went back to the Red Sox for one year to manage the Pawtucket Red Sox before becoming the Angels' third base coach in 2014-2015 and their first base coach in 2016. In 2017, he was the bench coach for the Red Sox and served as interim manager when John Farrell took a couple of days off to see his son, pitcher Luke Farrell, make his major league debut. DiSarcina was let go when Farrell was fired following the Division Series.

The New York Mets hired DiSarcina to be their bench coach in 2018 under new manager Mickey Callaway. In 2019, he moved to third base coach in a move dictated by new GM Brodie Van Wagenen and stayed there until the end of the 2021 season. In 2022, he became third base coach of the Washington Nationals. DiSarcina returned to the Nationals in 2023, but was let go after the season amidst a shake-up of the coaching staff.

DiSarcina is the brother of minor leaguer Glenn DiSarcina.
