Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Gary Blouin found success in the professional ranks, but never pitched past Double A.

Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 13th round of the 1986 amateur draft, the same round as notables Rod Beck and Rey Sanchez, the hurler began his career with a 7-4 mark, 79 strikeouts and 3.18 ERA in 76 1/3 innings for the Eugene Emeralds. Between two clubs in 1987, he was 11-7 with a 2.69 ERA in 20 starts, completing 4 games and allowing just 2 home runs in 110 1/3 innings. His final season was 1988, when he went 7-4, 2.87 in 16 starts for the Memphis Chicks.

Overall, he went 25-15 with a 2.89 ERA in 49 games (48 starts). In 280 2/3 innings, he allowed 278 hits, 7 home runs and 87 walks, while striking out 231 batters.

He was signed by scout Ron Hopkins.
