The Frederick Regiment of Frederick, MD won the title in the 1998 Maryland Fall League, the only season that league was around. 3B Mike Lamb (.321, a league-high 26 RBI, second in average) and P Grant Roberts (1-1, 3.38) were considered among the top prospects to play for the team. Maurice Bruce hit .307, third in the league, and showed good power and speed and was named player of the year. They also had the pitcher of the year, Brian Cooper. Cooper was 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA (second-best) and a league-high 48 strikeouts in just 36 innings. Doug Davis managed the team with coaches Bruce Crabbe and Howie Gershberg.
