Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Freddy Dolsi was signed by scout Ramon Pena for the Detroit Tigers in 2003 and split that season between the GCL Tigers and the DSL Tigers. In the DSL in 2004, he struck out 97 in 14 starts while holding hitters to a .199 average. The next summer, he joined the West Michigan Whitecaps bullpen and posted a 2.43 ERA in 23 games with the club. He made 30 appearances out of the pen for the Lakeland Tigers in 2006 and notched his first career save on May 12th.
Dolsi returned to Lakeland in 2007 and recored 23 saves for the team before earning a late-season promotion to the Erie Sea Wolves, for whom he threw a scoreless inning of relief in his only appearance. He began 2008 back at Lakeland, where he saved 5 games, and was promoted back to Erie at the end of April. After notching a pair of saves and not allowing a run in 3 outings with the Sea Wolves, he was called up by the Tigers in early May. He made his big league debut on May 6th against the Boston Red Sox and gave a homer to Manny Ramirez on the first big league pitch he threw. He went on to record his first big league save on May 22nd against the Seattle Mariners and got his first win against the Colorado Rockies on June 28th. He was sent down to the AAA Toledo Mud Hens in August but was recalled again by the Tigers in September.
Dolsi began 2009 back with Toledo and posted 10 saves for the club. He also spent about a month on the Tigers big league roster, going 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 6 outings. Following the season, he was placed on waivers and claimed by the Chicago White Sox.
