Biographical Information[edit]
Frank López has pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by the San Diego Padres in 2017. [1] He spent 2018 with the AZL Padres 1 and AZL Padres 2, going a combined 1-4 with a 3.86 ERA in ten games (eight starts); control was a problem as he walked 22 in 28 IP. In 2019, he was with the AZL Padres 1 (0-4, 3.30 in 11 G, 49 K in 43 2/3 IP) and DSL Padres (1-1, 4.15, 17 K in 13 IP). The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. In '21, he pitched for the ACL Padres (0-1, 7 R in 6 IP) and Lake Elsinore Storm (8 R, 7 ER in 2 2/3 IP). He had a 2-10, 4.63 record in 31 games as a pro, but had fanned 109 in 93 1/3 IP.
Pitching for Venezuela in the 2022 Bolivarian Games, he started and lost to Colombia and Yeizer Marrugo, giving up two hits, three walks and six runs (four earned) in 3 2/3 IP; Jesus Tona relieved him. His other outing, he allowed one run in two innings to save Javier Gorrin's win over Peru. Venezuela got the Bronze, while Frank tied for third in the event in runs allowed (behind Ken Ishihara and Alfredo Figaro). [2]
