Biographical Information

Outfielder Finners Quinlan played parts of two seasons in the majors with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox. He hit below .200 in each of the two years but was used pretty heavily in the first half of the 1915 campaign by the White Sox. In 114 at-bats that summer, he managed to get hit by the pitch 8 times. His teammates that year included Eddie Collins, Jack Fournier, Joe Jackson, Happy Felsch, Buck Weaver, Red Faber and Eddie Cicotte.

Quinlan was injured while serving in the U.S. Army during World War I and never returned to baseball. While fighting at Argonne Wood, a shell exploded near him, and he lost an eye and a leg. He later held several local elected positions in his hometown of Scranton, PA.

He is the only major leaguer named Finners.
