Biographical Information

Ferdie Moore was a first baseman who was 18 years old when he broke into the big leagues on October 2, 1914, with the Philadelphia Athletics. He played in 2 games and in 5 plate appearances, had two singles, 1 RBI, 1 sacrifice hit and struck out twice for a .500/.500/.500 line. He ended his MLB career on the next day.

Moore served in the U.S. Navy during World War II (BN). He was a detective for the Atlantic City police department and at one time was head of the vice squad. He fatally shot a cigar store proprietor, then took his own life with a bullet to the head. A dispute over money was the alleged cause of the row. He died at age 51 at City Hospital in Atlantic City, NJ on May 6, 1947 and is buried at Laurel Memorial Park in Pomona, NJ .
