Pitcher Evan Thomas attended Florida International University, where he led the country with 220 strikeouts in 1996. He was then selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the tenth round of the 1996 amateur draft and spent seven seasons in their organization, including parts of four summers with the AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. He later played in the Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels organizations and in the independent leagues.
