Biographical Information[edit]
Evan Sisk has pitched as high as AAA.
Sisk had a 0.97 ERA as a high school senior and was All-State his last three years of high school. [1] He had a 1-2, 5.40 record as a college freshman then improved to 5-2, 3.72 as a sophomore, making second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association. [2] His junior year, he was even better with a 10-3, 2.96 record. He led the CAA in wins and was second-team All-CAA again. [3]
The St. Louis Cardinals took him in the 16th round of the 2018 amateur draft, one round before Kyle Leahy, and he signed for a $100,000 bonus. He had five saves and a 1.76 ERA that summer for the Johnson City Cardinals. He tied Steffon Moore and Zach Neff for 6th in the Appalachian League in saves. In '19, he was was 3-6 with 5 saves and a 3.25 ERA for the Peoria Chiefs. He tied Freddy Pacheco and Brandon Withers for 6th in the Midwest League with 41 appearances. The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He began 2021 with the Chiefs (3 Sv, 2.86 in 10 G) and Springfield Cardinals (2-0, Sv, 3.60 in 16 G) before being dealt with John Gant to the Minnesota Twins for J.A. Happ. [4] After the deal, he was 1-1 with a 4.87 ERA for the Wichita Wind Surge. He had a 7.59 ERA for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League to wrap up a busy year.
In 2022, he was superb for the Wind Surge (3-0, Sv, 0.95 in 19 G) and St. Paul Saints (2-1 2.08 in 31 G), holding left-handed batters to a .085 average and striking out 76 in 63 innings. His 50 games pitched led the Twins chain. He was then traded again, this time with Steven Cruz to the Kansas City Royals for Michael A. Taylor. [5] He spent 2023 with the Omaha Storm Chasers, going 2-4 with a 6.34 ERA in 58 appearances. He was one shy of the 2023 IL lead in appearances and easily led the Royals' farmhands, by nine.
The next year, he was 6-2 with 15 saves and a 1.57 ERA for Omaha, striking out 81 in 57 1/3 IP. He pitched 58 games, 10 more than any other KC farmhand (Beck Way and Anderson Paulino were next) and tying Ben Sears for the most saves in their chain. He led the 2024 IL in games pitched and was 4th in saves, between Tony Santillan and Elvis Alvarado. Only two minor leaguers, Wander Suero and Logan VanWey, pitched more games. He made Team USA's roster for the 2024 Premier 12. [6] When the Royals promoted him to the 40-man roster, though, he likely would have to be removed from the US team.
