Biographical Information

Ernesto Comoglio played for the Argentinian national team in the 1995 Pan American Games and 2004 South American Championship (when Argentina won their first outright South American Championship). He pitched in the Italian minors before making it to Serie A1 in 2006 with Grosseto. He went 1-0 with a save and a 2.37 ERA in 11 outings, then tossed 1 1/3 shutout innings in the playoffs. In 2007, he moved to T&A San Marino and had a 4-4, 5.22 record with one save. He gave up three runs and five hits in 3 2/3 IP in the 2007 European Cup.

Comoglio then returned to play in his native Argentina. In the 2010 Pan American Games Qualification Tournament, the 37-year-old got the call for Argentina against the powerful Cuban national team. He did okay considering the mismatch, giving up nine hits, two walks and four runs (three earned) in five innings while fanning three. He took the loss as expected. He was a veteran presence on the Argentinian squad that won the 2011 South American Championship and beat Chile in the semifinals.
