Biographical information

Enerio Del Rosario made his major league debut in 2010.

Del Rosario was signed by scouts Luis Baez and Maximo Rombley for the Cincinnati Reds at age 19. He went 4-4 with a save and a 3.12 ERA for the 2005 DSL Reds. In 2006, he improved to 5-5 with a 1.78 ERA for the same club, with a WHIP under 1. He came stateside in 2007 with the Billings Mustangs, going 5-4 with a 3.97 ERA while having nearly as many walks (30) as Ks (40). He was 10th in the Pioneer League in ERA.

In 2008, Enerio was 5-2 with 5 saves and a 1.16 ERA, walking only 11 with a WHIP under 1 in 70 innings for the Dayton Dragons but bombed with the Sarasota Reds (1-4, 6.09, a WHIP close to 2). Overall, his 3.07 ERA was third in the Reds chain.

Del Rosario had an excellent 2009, jumping up two tiers. He was 2-1 with 7 saves and a 1.98 ERA in 31 games for Sarasota, with only 6 walks in 50 innings. He was briefly with the AA Carolina Mudcats, allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings while striking out nine and earning a save. He then finished up with the Louisville Bats, where he went 1-0 with four saves and a 1.09 ERA. He then was 3-2 with two saves and a 1.99 ERA for the Gigantes del Cibao to help them finish second in the Dominican League. The Reds added him to their 40-man roster that off-season.

He kicked off 2010 back with Louisville and again was lights-out, with a 1-1, 1.46 record and 3 saves in 20 games while walking only 4 in 24 2/3 innings. He was called up to the majors when Homer Bailey went on the disabled list. In his big league debut, Del Rosario relieved Aaron Harang with one on in the 7th, one out and a 7-4 lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates. He struck out Andrew McCutchen on six pitches then was replaced by Danny Herrera. He made a second appearance against the Pirates on the 27th, then was then reassigned to make room on the roster for Sam LeCure. He was back in the majors shortly thereafter, making another 7 appearances with the Reds in June, with a win and a loss and a 2.08 ERA combined with his two May outings. However he was sent down to the minors at the end of the month, going 4-4, 3.09 with 4 saves in 50 games for Louisville for the year. On September 16th, the Reds sold his contract to the Houston Astros; he pitched twice for them, giving up 3 runs in 1 1/3 inning.

Enerio started the 2011 season with the Astros, making 44 appearances by August 5th, at which point his record stood at 0-2, 4.50. he then went on the disabled list until early September, victim of a shoulder strain. He returned to make 10 more appearances in September, finishing the year at 0-3, 4.58 in 54 appearances, with 31 walks and as many strikeouts in 53 innings. He failed to make the Astros' staff at the start of 2012 and instead headed to the Oklahoma City 89ers. He was called up to Houston in early May for one game, then again for a week starting on May 21st, but did not pitch particularly well either time. He was back with the Astros for most of July, but returned to the minors after his 15th game of the season on July 26, with his ERA at 7.80.
