Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Elvis Araújo was signed by scout Otilio Chourio for $125,000 on his 16th birthday for the Cleveland Indians. He made his pro debut for the DSL Indians in 2008. Tommy John surgery after that season cost him the entire 2009 campaign. A setback in his recovery cost him all of 2010 as well. He became a free agent before the 2015 season and signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. It was with the Phillies that he made his major league debut in May of that year. Following parts of two years there, Elvis inked a pact with the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball in 2017. He returned to the States on minor league pacts with Baltimore in 2018 and Miami in 2019, drawing his release at each midseason.
