Biographical Information[edit]

Eiji Yano pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Yano represented Japan in the 1994 Baseball World Cup and 2001 Baseball World Cup. The Yokohama BayStars drafted him in the second round of the 1998 NPB draft. He recorded a terrible 6.16 ERA in 30 appearances in his rookie year. He pitched well in the beginning of the 2000 season, recorded a 0.96 ERA in 18 1/3 innings. However, he torned his right UCL and missed the next three seasons. He was traded to the Kintetsu Buffaloes with Kazuo Fukumori for Ken Kadokura and Shinji Udaka in 2003. Yano still struggled with the Buffaloes, allowed 21 runs in just 13 1/3 innings in 2004. When the Rakuten Golden Eagles was founded in 2005, Yano was assigned to there. He allowed 10 runs in 9 innings in 2005, then the Golden Eagles released him, and ended his NPB career. He had pitched for Nashua Pride and Schaumburg Flyers, then announced his retirement in 2008.

Overall, Yano was 4-7 with a 6.24 ERA and pitched 105 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
