Biographical Information[edit]

Edwin Thompson was a minor-league player and has been a college coach.

Thompson started his collegiate baseball career at Howard then transferred to Maryland and finally landed at Webber International. After graduating in 2003, he played a year of independent minor league ball with the Bangor Lumberjacks of the Northeast League. He hit .196/.263/.243 with 9 runs and 11 RBI in 37 games, fielding .933 in the outfield.

His first college coaching job was with as an assistant coach at the University of Maine at Farmington from 2005 to 2008. In 2009, he took the head coaching job at Bates College. He stayed for two seasons, compiling a record of 37-33. He spent the next two seasons as an assistant coach at Duke University.

In 2013, he became an assistant coach at Georgia State University. He left after the 2015 season to take the head coaching job at Eastern Kentucky University staying through 2020. He then became head coach at Georgetown University in 2021.
