Ramirez pitched in independent leagues in 2005-2006, before New York Yankees' pro scouting assistant John Coppolella gave a tip to scout Mark Batchko about Ramirez. Batchko drove six hours to see him pitch and asked Edinburg Coyotes manager Vince Moore to use Ramirez. Based on one look, he was signed by the Yankees and sent to the Class A Tampa Yankees.
Ramirez was pitching coach for the DSL Yankees 2 in 2021, DSL Yankees in 2022-2023, and DSL Bombers in 2024.
