Biographical Information[edit]
1B/OF Edgar Hartness played in the minor leagues from 1938 to 1955, missing the 1943-1945 seasons due to military service. He led the Georgia-Florida League with 14 3B and 8 HR in 1938 and a .356 average in 1939. Hartness led the 1948 South Atlantic League with 41 2B, then had two outstanding years in the Georgia State League. He led the loop with a .364 average and 136 RBI in 1949 and led with 201 H, 137 R, 48 2B, 134 RBI, and a .400 AVG in 1950. He made the post-season all-star team both years at first base.
Overall, Hartness collected 2,214 hits, 403 2B, 229 SB and a .326 average in 15 seasons.
