Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Ed Creech was selected by the Montreal Expos in the second round of the 1973 amateur draft. He played in their farm system from 1973 to 1978, reaching as high as the AAA level.
After several years away from baseball, Creech returned to the Expos as a minor league coach for the Calgary Expos in 1982. He managed in their organization for five seasons and was a scout from 1985 to 1991. He was the Expos' Scouting Director from 1994 to 1997. He then held the same job with the St. Louis Cardinals the next year and was responsible for selecting J.D. Drew in the 1998 amateur draft.
From 1999 to 2001, Creech was in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization as an assistant to GM Kevin Malone, in basically a scouting director role. He joined the Pittsburgh Pirates as Director of Scouting after the 2001 season and held that role through October of 2007. Due to poor drafts in his time in that role, he was fired by new GM Neal Huntington on October 5, 2007. In 2008-2011, Creech moved to the San Francisco Giants as "Senior Advisor, Scouting".
