Biographical Information[edit]
Earnie Johnson was undrafted out of college yet reached AAA.
Johnson was signed by the Chicago White Sox after he finished college. He allowed five runs in ten innings for the 1989 GCL White Sox. In 1990, he was 5-3 with 3 saves and a 2.09 ERA as a reliable reliever for the South Bend White Sox. The next year, the southpaw was better yet at 6-1, 7 Sv, 1.75 for the Sarasota White Sox. Earnie bounced around in 1992, with stops with the GCL White Sox (0 R in 2 IP), Sarasota (1-2, 3 Sv, 3.71) and the Birmingham Barons (1-1, 5.49). He had a 6-0, 2.34 record for the Águilas de Mexicali in the 1992-1993 Mexican Pacific League then tossed 8 shutout innings for the Mazatlan Deer in the 1993 Caribbean Series. Johnson moved to the other Chicago organization, the Chicago Cubs, for his last year. He split 1993 between the Orlando Cubs (6-5, 2 Sv, 5.94) and Iowa Cubs (1-1, Sv, 3.21) to end his career.
