Biographical Information[edit]

Hawaiian pitcher Dylan Spain was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 2021 amateur draft out the University of Hawai'i at Hilo, where he was part of the starting rotation for three years before having to sit out the 2020 season when it was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. He played for three different teams in 2021, his first professional season, starting off with the FCL Braves and also making appearances with the Augusta GreenJackets of the Low-A East and Rome Braves of the High-A East. He did not give up a single earned run in 17 2/3 innings over 11 relief appearances between the three stops, also logging a win and a save and striking out 21 batters while walking just 2. In 2022, he spent the entire season with Rome in the now re-named South Atlantic League and went 0-5, 5.30 with 2 saves in 36 games, including 7 starts. He still displayed a very good K/W ratio in 56 innings, at 60/13.

On November 6, 2022, he was part of the first trade of the off-season, being sent to the Colorado Rockies in return for major league outfielder Sam Hilliard.

He was born to play on a team with Ty France, Mark Portugal and Tim Ireland.
