Biographical Information[edit]
Drew Meyer was the second baseman when the US won Gold at the 1999 World Junior Championship. He hit .423, third on the club behind Jeff Baker and Dave Krynzel, led the team with 10 runs and stole 7 bases (one behind Krynzel for the team lead). Among those he outhit were Joe Mauer and Carlos Quentin.
Meyer was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 1st round of the 2002 amateur draft, 10th overall. He was signed by scout Jim Fairey and made his pro debut that summer.
Meyer returned to the University of South Carolina as an assistant coach in 2012.
