Biographical Information[edit]
IF Donovan Mitchell was drafted in the 14th round of the 1992 amateur draft by the Houston Astros and played seven seasons in the Astros organization, retiring after the 1998 campaign.
In 1999 Mitchell was a coach for the GCL Mets, and in 2000 he coached the Capital City Bombers. He was the Assistant director of minor league operations in 2001, and returned to the field as coach of the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2002. He coached Capital City again in 2003 and Brooklyn again in 2004-2005. In 2006-2007 Mitchell managed the Kingsport Mets, and moved up to manage the Savannah Sand Gnats in 2008. He was a coach for the Binghamton Mets in 2009 and the GCL Mets in 2010.
Mitchell's son Donovan was a 1st round pick of the NBA's Utah Jazz in 2017.
