Biographical Information[edit]

Submariner Dong-soo Park pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization for 9 years.

Park played for South Korea in the 1982 Amateur World Series; they won their first world baseball title. The Lotte Giants selected him in the first round of the 1985 KBO draft, and he went 9-10 with a 2.73 ERA in his first season. He was 7th in ERA (between Masayoshi Kanai and Hyung-cheol Gye), 8th in strikeouts (tied with Gye) and 6th in losses (tied with Ho-kyun Lim and Ki-ryong Ha). Park was 8-7 with a 2.54 ERA in 1986, and he slumped to 9-8 with a 4.24 ERA in 1987. He went 7-8 with a 3.62 ERA in 1988, and he had a 1-5 record with a 4.67 ERA in 1989.

The Masan native struggled in 1990 as he went 3-6 with a 5.89 ERA, and he had a 4.96 ERA in 30 games with 2 saves in 1991. Park only pitched 12 games with a 4.60 ERA in 1992, and he announced his retirement after allowing 5 runs in 5 2/3 innings in 1993. He later became the pitching coach of the Hanwha Eagles from 1997 to 1998, and he came back to the Giants as their pitching coach in 2002. He coached their minor league team from 2003 to 2005, and he was their pitching coach from 2006 to 2007. Park coached Masan Yongma High School from 2008 to 2010. He was also a scout for the Giants from 1993 to 1996 and from 1999 to 2001, and he scouted for the NC Dinos from 2011 to 2013.

Overall, Park was 41-48 with a 3.79 ERA, struck out 392 and pitched 810 innings in 9 seasons in the KBO.
