Biographical Information[edit]
Do-gyu Kwak has pitched in the KBO and for the South Korea national baseball team.
Kwak was drafted by the KIA Tigers in the 5th round of the 2023 KBO draft, and he had a 8.49 ERA in 14 games in 2023. He was then set to the Canberra Cavalry of the Australian Baseball League, and he had a 3.12 ERA in 6 games in the 2023-2024 ABL. Kwak got 16 holds with a 3.56 ERA in 71 games in 2024, and he was 7th in appearances (tied with Jin-sung Kim and Min Kim). In the 2024 Korean Series, Kwak pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings to get the win in Game 1, and he threw 2/3 of a shutout inning in Game 2. He added another shutout inning in Game 4, and he collected his second win with a shutout inning in Game 5. The Tigers beat the Samsung Lions in 5 games, and Kwak won his first title. He then represented South Korea in the 2024 Premier 12.
Kwak's repertoire included a fastball (peak 94.4 mph), curveball and slider.
