Biographical Information[edit]

Diego Fabiani has pitched in Serie A1 and for the Italian national team.

He helped Italy win the 2015 European U-18 Championship, allowing one hit, three walks and one run in five innings while fanning eight. [1] He attended the MLB European Elite Camp that year. [2] He also played for Team Europe in the Asia Winter League. [3]

In 2016, he debuted in Italy's top league, going 1-1 with a 2.05 ERA for Tommasin Padova. He made the World Select team that toured the US that fall. [4] He was 3-8 with a 3.87 ERA for Padova in 2017, serving as a regular starter at age 20. He was 6th in the 2017 Italian Baseball League in IP (74 1/3, between Jose Rosario and Frailyn Florian), tied Carlos Teran for the most games pitched (18), tied Ronald Uviedo and Andrea Pizziconi for 4th with 15 starts and was second in losses (to former Cubs farmhand Carlos Rodriguez. Fabiani struggled at 0-4, 6.53 for Padova in 2018. [6] He made his debut with the Italian senior team in the 2018 Super6. He pitched one game, relieving Rene Mazzocchi in the 7th with a 5-1 lead over Belgium. He struck out Yves Poesmans and Benjamin Goffaux then got Benjamin Dille to fly out. In the 8th, he walked Thomas De Wolf then Dennis De Quint doubled. Valerio Simone relieved and both inherited runners would score, leaving Fabiani with a 18.00 ERA; only Teran had a higher ERA for Italy. [7]
