Biographical Information[edit]

Denny Wagner was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 47th Round of the 1994 amateur draft out of Castlewood High School in Castlewood, VA, but did not sign. He instead attended Virginia Tech University where he pitched for three years. In 1997, he was selected to the All Atlantic-10 Conference Team and was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round (42nd overall).

He made his professional debut with the Southern Oregon A's and had a 15.43 era in 14 innings pitched. Wagner pitched with the A's oganization, reaching as high as AA, until he was taken by the Chicago White Sox in the minor league phase of the 2001 Rule V Draft. He split 2002 in A,AA,and AAA with the White Sox and with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League. He last played professional baseball with Winnipeg in 2003.
