Biographical Information[edit]

Dennis Gray pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Gray was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 9th round of the 1988 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign. The Toronto Blue Jays then took him in the 2nd round of the 1991 Amateur Draft, and he went 4-4 with a 3.34 ERA for the St. Catharines Blue Jays in his first year. He was 11-12 with a 3.82 ERA for the Myrtle Beach Hurricanes in 1992, then he went 8-10 with a 3.57 ERA for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 1993. Gray slumped to 2-5 with a 5.27 ERA for the Knoxville Smokies in 1994, and he struggled there again as his ERA was 6.34 in 24 appearances in 1995. He also reached AAA in that season, and he had a 2-2 record with a 4.44 ERA for the Syracuse Chiefs.

Moving to the Montreal Expos in 1996. Gray recorded a 7.59 ERA in 9 games for the Harrisburg Senators, and he allowed 4 runs in 5 1/3 innings for the Ottawa Lynx. He also had a 7.83 ERA in 21 games with the Port City Roosters affiliated with the Seattle Mariners, and he went 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA for the Greenville Braves. The Uni-President Lions signed him in 1997, but he allowed 10 runs in 3 innings, then the Lions released him. He then signed with the Cleveland Indians, and he recorded a 12.27 ERA for the Akron Aeros. Gray spent his last season with the Chicago Cubs, and he had a 6.23 ERA in 9 games for the Iowa Cubs in 1998.
