Biographical Information[edit]

Reliever David Walters pitched in the Baltimore Orioles system from 2009 to 2013. He very briefly (one game in 2012) reached Triple-A, but never ascended to the majors.

He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 47th round of the 2008 amateur draft and began his professional career the next year. After a ho-hum initial campaign, he went 4-1 with a 3.53 ERA in 31 appearances between two clubs in 2010. Despite going 1-6 with a 3.93 ERA for the Delmarva Shorebirds in 2011, he still managed a South Atlantic League-leading 30 saves, as well as 42 games finished, which were second behind Juan Perez's 45. In 2012, he led the Carolina League with 45 appearances and tied Ben Rowen for second with 31 games finished, behind Juan Jaime's 45. He made a single appearance with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides that year, allowing 3 earned runs in 2 1/3 innings for a 11.57 ERA. After a 1-4, 5.86 line in 2013, his career was over.

Overall, Walters went 9-19 with 54 saves, 123 games finished and a 4.24 ERA in 169 games. In 214 1/3 innings, he allowed 237 hits and 56 walks (1.367 WHIP), while striking out 152 batters.
