Biographical information

David Gold played at least one season in the farm system of the St. Louis Cardinals.

He attended Amherst College where he played baseball, basketball, and was the quarterback of the football team.

Gold played 17 games as a catcher with the Lebanon Chix of the Class D North Atlantic League in 1950. While there, he compiled a .234 batting average (11 for 47) with seven walks, two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He also played for the Duluth Dukes of the Class C Northern League. In Duluth, he was used as a catcher (34 games), outfielder (15 games), and third baseman (23 games). In 74 games, he managed just a .155 batting average (35 for 226) with 27 walks, six doubles and a triple. His career slugging percentage was just .223. Both teams were affiliated with the Cardinals, but neither squad produced any major league players.

Following his service to the Cardinals, Gold served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He went on to work for Nantucket Industries of New York, NY where he eventually became an executive before retiring. David also owned Raquette Lake Boys Camp in New York.

He died at the age of 82 on November 21, 2010 in Mahwah, NJ of unknown causes.
