Mahwah is a geographically large town (26.7 square miles) with a population of 25,000. It sits amidst the Ramapo Mountains in the Northwest corner of Bergen County in New Jersey. The town is home to Ramapo College, a four-year university that has produced eight major league draft picks.

Though only one major league player is listed as being born in Mahwah, Al Sima, the town's best baseball product was Curt Blefary. Blefary graduated from Mahwah High School and won the Rookie of the Year Award with the 1965 Orioles. Jeff Remo was drafted out of Mahwah High School by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 1980 amateur draft.
