Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher David Festa was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 13th round of the 2021 amateur draft out of Seton Hall University. He pitched three seasons in college, with his sophomore season in 2020 cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, going 6-4, 2.00 in 15 games in his junior year. It was a bit foreordained that he would end up at Seton Hall, as a local boy from Verona, NJ who had attended the affiliated Seton Hall Prep as his high school.

He made his professional debut in 2021 with the FCL Twins and Fort Myers Miracle, pitching twice at each level for a total of 8 1/3 innings. In 2022, he got off to a strong start with Fort Myers in the Florida State League, going 2-1, 1.50 in his first five starts, to earn a quick promotion to the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League. He continued to pitch well there, going 7-3, 2.71 in 16 games. In 2023, he started the year in AA with the Wichita Wind Surge of the Texas League, earning a spot on the American League team for the 2023 Futures Game. He then finished the season in AAA with the St. Paul Saints. His combined line was 4-4, 4.19 in 24 games, with 119 strikeouts in 92 1/3 innings.

He started the 2024 season back with St. Paul and after 14 starts was 3-2, 3.77. He was called up to make his debut with the Twins on June 27th as the starting pitcher against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He did not pitch particularly well, but managed to labor his way through five innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits, and received credit for a 13-6 win thanks to his teammates' bats, as all 13 of Minnesota's runs were scored while he was on the mound.
