Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop David Espinosa was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round of the 2000 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Greg Zunino and made his pro debut that summer.

On July 23, 2002, Espinosa was traded with Noochie Varner and Jorge Cordova to the Detroit Tigers for Matt Boone and Brian Moehler. After struggling defensively at shortstop, he was eventually moved to the outfield.
