Biographical Information[edit]

Dave Howard has coached and managed in the minors. Howard was an outfielder for Team USA when they won Bronze in the 1979 Intercontinental Cup; his outfield mates included Joe Carter and Terry Francona. Howard began his coaching career at his alma mater, Georgia Southern College, where he worked as an assistant to Jack Stallings (his coach in college and with Team USA) from 1981-1986. From 1987-1994, he was the third base coach and hitting coach for the University of Florida, during which the team made the College World Series twice.

Howard moved into professional baseball with the Tampa Yankees, coaching for them from 1994-1997. In 1998, he became the manager of the Princeton Devil Rays, leading them to the finals of the Appalachian League. He coached for the Tampa Prep School in 1999-2000, then returned to manage in the minors from 2001-2005 with the Hudson Valley Renegades. From 2006-2008, Howard was Major League promotions manager with Easton Sports. He was the hitting coach of the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats, entrusted with 2008 amateur draft first-rounder Pedro Alvarez. He was the hitting coach for the Bradenton Marauders in 2010, West Virginia Power in 2011, and State College Spikes in 2012.
